On December 30, 2017, Pelekikena Keokani Marciel proposed that KoMex Fusion be the new location for the regular meetings of HAALV.
Coinciding with Lā Kūʻokoa is Makahiki, the festive traditional celebration of the Hawaiian New Year. For this occasion, HAALV referred the Las Vegas Natural History Museum to resident Hawaiian historian, Patrick Kaʻanoʻi, who gave a well-received presentation on December 10, 2017, as part of the museum's "December to Remember" program.
On December 3, 2017, at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, HAALV gave an educational presentation about Lā Kūʻokoa, the most important holiday in the Hawaiian Kingdom. Celebrated annually since November 28, 1843, this is the day when Great Britain and France, by joint proclamation, formally recognized the independence of the Hawaiian Kingdom as a sovereign State. Thus, becoming the first non-European member of the Family of Nations.
On September 27, 2017, the Pelekikena of HAALV, Keokani Kipona Marciel, became a Professional Registered Parliamentarian (PRP) accredited by the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP), after completing the Professional Qualifying Course (PQC) in Chicago, Illinois, at the 41st Biennial Convention of NAP.
From August 4 through 6, 2017, two elected Delegates of HAALV, and one alternate, participated in the first Annual Convention of the League (KAHAA) in over a century.
On July 20, 2017, HAALV was contacted by the Linden-Museum Stuttgart in Germany, regarding the cover photo on the home page of HAALV, requesting permission to include it in their six-month exhibit about Hawaiʻi from October 14, 2017 to May 13, 2018. The photo is from the historic Aloha ʻĀina gatherings in front of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign on April 8, 2015, in solidarity with the global movement to protect Mauna Kea from further desecration. The museum representative was referred to AlohaValley.com, where the photos were showcased.
On July 15, 2017, HAALV became a chartered District Branch of Ka ʻAhahui Hawaiʻi Aloha ʻĀina (KAHAA), The Hawaiian Patriotic League of the Hawaiian Islands.
On July 12, 2017, HAALV adopted 6 resolutions for submission to the 2017 Annual Convention of the League.
On March 11, 2017, HAALV participated in a forum hosted by the Clark County Library on the ongoing illegal occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
On February 14, 2017, HAALV launched a Meetup group for social activities to connect with the local Lāhui Hawaiʻi Aloha ʻĀina--Hawaiian national body--in Las Vegas, and help bring them together as an organized local group that meets regularly. Our inaugural Meetup was held at the Las Vegas location of Cinnamon's Restaurant, opened on December 7, 2016
